The Special Education Department is responsible for coordination of funding and/or programming for special education, deaf education, i.e., programs designed to positively impact students with special needs. Specialists and coordinators provide group and individualized professional development for teachers and other staff aimed at increasing instructional effectiveness with students; provide guidance and assistance in mandatory compliance and data collection for submission to the district and the state. Appraisal staff provide services related to the identification of students eligible for special education services.
