University High choir and theater students performed the comedy horror rock musical “Little Shop of Horrors” over the course of three days in mid September.

UHS TheatreThis was the third year for the annual student musical production at Waco ISD.  In the first two years, Waco High students performed the musicals “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and “Into the Woods,” respectively.  This is the first year for the annual musical production to take the stage at University High.

Theater instructor Glenn Price and choir teacher Pamela Bridges began working with their students in the middle of the summer to guarantee the quality production that it turned out to be.

“Little Shop of Horrors,” by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, tells the story of a florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. The Broadway musical is based on the 1960 film, The Little Shop of Horrors, with a musical style from the early 1960s that contains rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown.
