Waco ISD Elementary U.I.L. Competition & Results
If issued a challenge, they will come, even on a Saturday!
That sentence holds true for 600 Waco ISD students who spent Saturday, December 14, competing at the annual District Elementary UIL Competition. The event, organized by the Office of Advanced Academics and made possible by a $10,000 grant from the Waco ISD Education Foundation, was an all-day extravaganza held at Tennyson Middle School.
The academic contest focused on subjects such as math, language arts, science, music and problem-solving skills. At the end of the day, dozens of smiling children crossed the stage to accept their medals in a cafeteria packed with cheering parents, teachers, students, and school administrators.
"It was a super Saturday," said an ecstatic and exhausted Larry Carpenter who helped organize the event. "We had a record number of children participate this year and, most importantly, every elementary campus in the district was represented."
