Exceptionally high scores on college entrance exams have resulted in recognition for three Tennyson Middle School students enrolled in the ATLAS Academy. Seventh-graders William Grant, Gabriella Vidana and Thomas Felton were invited to participate in the Duke University Talent Identification Program giving them the opportunity to take either the ACT or SAT college entrance exam alongside high school students. Their scores qualified them for State Recognition and a Duke Summer Studies Program.

Two other students, Alexandria Thomas of Cesar Chavez Middle and Olivia Henderson of Tennyson, narrowly missed State Recognition but qualified for a Summer Studies Program.

The Duke University Talent Identification Program is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving academically gifted and talented youth. With a focus on gifted and talented education, Duke TIP works with students, families, and educators to identify, recognize, challenge, engage, and help students reach their highest potential.
