Students taking Algebra II at the Greater Waco Advanced Manufacturing Academy will be using data collected by weather balloons to see if their predictions are accurate.
The predictions include how quickly the balloons will ascend and how far they will travel because of the wind speed in the upper atmosphere.
And, of course, they'll also be examining temperature, humidity and barometric pressure gathered by the instruments the balloon carries.
The students launched two balloons on Friday, May 30, as part of their real world application of mathematics in Joshua Moore's Algebra II class at GWAMA.
The project was made possible by donations from business partners Matheson Gas, Trane and DuPuy Oxygen.
