The past is impressive and the future is bright for the Waco High School Mock Trial Team. Faced with the loss of a senior-laden state qualifying group that went undefeated in the regional tournament last year, longtime WHS Coach Rick Lowe this year started grooming a new crop of rookies. Although the team fell short of its goal of advancing to state again, one of the newbies won a major award at the regional meet. Taylor Henderson, a junior, was chosen as the tournament's Best Advocate.
"I was so nervous," said Taylor. "But once I got my first opening statement under my belt and started moving around, I became more relaxed. It's so exciting to be a part of this team and win this award. We will be back at state next year."
Taylor is the daughter of Katrina Gray.
