Storms over the Memorial Day weekend resulted in a loss of power at J.H. Hines and Kendrick Elementary schools. The electricity was off long enough to create concerns about the temperature integrity of the stored food products in the walk-in cooler and freezer at both schools.
CNS Warehouse manager Jesse Salinas and Jose Frias, warehouse worker, deserve a huge thanks for moving supplies from Kendrick and being ready to empty the Hines unit if necessary. Fortunately, the electricity at Hines was restored in time without having to empty the unit. Kendrick’s power was restored late Tuesday.
Over the summer, installation of temperature controls with alarms will occur in the eight remaining schools that don't have them. The controls will provide immediate communication of temperature changes for all units via text, e-mail and online monitoring.
