Three local seniors are already benefitting from the classes they experienced last year at Waco ISD's Greater Waco Advanced Manufacturing Academy. Having attended GWAMA as juniors, Andrew McAdams, Brice Anderson and Colton Lewellen were eligible to apply for a summer welding project at the school. Andrew attends high school in China Spring. Brice and Colton are Midway students. In addition to honing their newly acquired welding skills, the students are learning to read blueprints and build a structure from the ground up. They will soon complete a new outdoor grinding station that will be put to use when school begins in August. And on top of that, they're earning $10 per hour.
GWAMA has openings for new students for the 2015-2016 school year. If you will be a junior at your high school, ask your counselor about enrolling at GWAMA. The academy is open to students from school districts throughout Central Texas.
