UHS trainer receives prestigious award

Jerry Williams, longtime athletic trainer at University High School, did not know it was coming. Williams had just finished his meal at the August 19 football season kickoff luncheon hosted annually by the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce when his name was called as the recipient of the highly-coveted Dave Campbell Award.

Named after the legendary Waco sportswriter, the award recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to football in Central Texas. Williams has been serving as the University High School athletic trainer for 28 years. During that time, he has taken care of thousands of University Trojans in all sports.
