My'Uniquia Burr, a sixth-grader at Indian Spring Middle School, is being hailed as a hero after urging residents to get to safety after a fire broke out in the apartment complex where she lives.
On September 27, residents of the Kate Ross Apartments got a scare when part of their building caught fire. When the Waco Fire Deparment arrived on the scene, the second floor of the building was engulfed in flames. My'Uniquia had already sprung into action urging residents to evacuate.
"I ran to the houses and I told somebody to call 9-1-1. And I started beating on the doors and kicking them and everybody got out the house safely", said 11-year-old My'Uniquia.
Needless to say, ISMS principal John Jenkins is mighty proud of this sixth-grader.
