Karen Baier, AJM Academy of Education and Training, has a student who is deaf. Each day he comes to class every day with his interpreter, Mrs. Jan. Her class decided to ask their fellow student, Julian, if he would teach the class one word a day in ASL. This would help the class learn a new language and also help with classroom communication. Julian is now the star of her class. Students now arrive on time so they don’t miss the word of the day! Mrs. Jan is being recruited by my students to increase their ASL vocabulary! Soon the class will start learning some of their unit vocabulary words in ASL.
