It's being called the largest learning event in history. At least three Waco ISD schools were among the thousands of schools worldwide to participate in the Hour of Code. The event is organized and promoted by, a public non-profit organization dedicated to expanding access to computer science education. It also hopes to see an increase in computer science participation by girls and students of color.

During the Hour of Code, students at Crestview, Lake Air and Indian Spring had the opportunity to see and write computer code that makes the Angry Birds game work. Students were challenged to make one of the Angry Birds move around a maze and attack a green pig. It was delightful to see the students' reactions after writing the correct code.

The Hour of Code is observed annually in December during Computer Science Education Week.
