Students in the Academy of Information Technology at Waco High School are some of the best in the region when it comes to audio and video production. And so is their teacher, Jeffrey Davies.
We know that, because the proof is in the pudding, as the saying goes.
Looking for a new challenge, the students and their teacher entered the 2016 “Celebrate Texas Public Schools” video contest last fall. The annual contest, which is sponsored by the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) and Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union, is open to all school districts in Texas with a membership in TSPRA.
The contest gave the Waco High students a chance to measure their video production skills against other high schools in the region, and at the same time, showcase their school in a meaningful way.
Each year, the contest focuses upon a specific theme, with specific guidelines the videos must adhere to. This year, entries had to tell the story or history of the campus. In addition to other criteria, and perhaps the most challenging, the videos could not exceed one-minute in length.
The contest was open to students in four different categories that included high school, middle school, elementary school and foreign language. Lorette Williams, TSPRA President, said that the organization received a wide variety of videos from all grade levels.
As a result of their efforts and hard work, the Waco High video production team was named a regional finalist in the 2016 statewide video contest. Williams praised the Waco High students for their effort and creativity, and thanked them for participating in the contest.
“Every moment of every day in Texas public schools, real life engagement and profound learning occurs. This is something that our students and teachers know well. They celebrate these big and little moments as they happen. This video will allow us to continue celebrating these moments in a bigger way.” Williams said.

And without further ado...
