University High School – Academic Achiever’s Banquet
Tuesday, May 17, 2016
6 p.m. Dinner at the Baylor Club
7 p.m. Ceremony

The Waco ISD Advanced Academics Department honored the 2016 University High School Academic Achievers at a banquet held at the Baylor Club on Tuesday, May 17, 2016.  In keeping with the longstanding tradition of this event, each student was accompanied by a family member, and an educator who has had a significant influence on their academic success.

Waco ISD Academic Achievers are sophomore, junior, and seniors who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 96.5. In the first year of becoming an academic achiever, students receive a letter jacket for earning the recognition. Those students earning the award in subsequent or multiple years are awarded additional letter “bars” for their jacket.

The guest speaker for the event was Roman Novian, a University High School graduate from the class of 2007. Mr. Novian is a realtor with Coldwell Banker Jim Stewart, Realtors in Waco. He was recently named to Realtor Magazine’s “30 Under 30 Class of 2016,” and is one of only four Texas to achieve that ranking.

Mr. Novian spoke to the students about pursuing their dreams and the importance of finding a passion in life.  “I don’t go to work every day,” he told the audience, “because I love what I do, it’s not work to me.”

Each University High School Academic Achiever received an enlarged and nicely framed copy of their college admission letter.

Congratulations to University High School’s 2016 Academic Achievers and best wishes to the graduating seniors.
