The first ever collaboration between Waco ISD and the Waco Civic Theater will present the timeless Disney classic “Beauty and the Beast,” at Waco High’s Richfield Performing Arts Center.
It’s the classic story of Belle, a beautiful young woman, and the young prince trapped in a spell in the Beast’s body. Can the Beast learn to live and love so the curse will end? Or will he be doomed for all eternity?
A cast and crew of nearly 80 people, including more than a dozen high school students, will be performing eight shows over two weekends July 22-31, with evening performances Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and a matinee performance on Sundays.
Five students from Waco and Midway High School’s Fine Arts Departments are in the cast for this ground breaking production that could lead to teaming up again in the future.
“One of the great things about the partnership is we can have a higher production value – better costumes, a more elaborate set – together we can do a lot more,” said Waco Civic Theater Executive Director Eric Shepard.
Tickets are available at www.wacocivictheater.org and each of the next three days we’ll be giving you a behind the scenes look at this production, starting today with Bruce Gietzen’s conversation with Director Richard Leslie.
