McLennan County Sheriff, Parnell McNamara, greeted CJ students at Waco High and spoke about the field of Criminal Justice in America today.

Sheriff McNamara, himself a Richfield HS student in the early 60's, offered advice for young people wishing to start a career in criminal justice. Law enforcement offices, from local police departments to federal agencies, are seeking a new generation of officers willing to protect and serve the people as best they can. McNamara stressed the idea of Public Service as the primary mission of policing.

McNamara related the events of tracking down local serial killer, Kenneth Allan McDuff, eventually leading to his arrest and execution. Parnell warned that things like that can stick with you for the rest of your life. But ensuring the safety of the people make it worth the stress.

The WHS Criminal Justice Department wishes to thank Sheriff McNamara for taking the time to speak to the students and offer his wisdom and advice.
