Each January, Waco ISD joins other districts across the state to honor the countless contributions of our locally elected school board.
Our school board is a group of seven dedicated individuals who work together on behalf of our children and our community.
As elected officials, they are the voice of their communities, serving first and foremost in the best interest of all schoolchildren.
These public servants sit through long meetings, read detailed reports, listen to parent's concerns, and do the hard work to benefit the students and the community at large. They bring a variety of skills and backgrounds to their task, and they take their responsibilities seriously. The entire community benefits from their vigilance.
In addition to working countless hours without pay, our school board members shoulder critical responsibilities and often make difficult choices. Their ultimate goal is always focused on the future success of the children of our district.
Serving as a crucial link between the community and classroom, this board is responsible for managing millions of dollars annually, 15,000 students, 2,500 employees, and 26 campuses.
The children of Waco ISD benefit every day from the hard work and long hours contributed by our school board all-star team.
The board was honored with tokens of appreciation (in the form of travel mugs, candy and balloons) presented by the following University and Waco High students:
- Aaliyah Perez and Annahi Martinez - UHS Soccer
- Haley Miller - WHS Theatre Student
- Skarkevia Slaughter - WHS Drill Team
- Jibrael Washington - UHS Boys Basketball
- Jordan Perez - UHS Football (Grandson of Larry Perez)
- Will Richards, III - WHS Football
- Ray High - WHS Boys Basketball
- Dylan Chapman - UHS Baseball
