The University Trojans Boys Basketball team faced off against the Dragons of Nacogdoches Monday night securing their next step on the road to the state tournament with a score of 76-58.
At game's start, the dragons were by no means caught sleeping, forcing the Trojans to prove their worth in the second half. You can read all the details at the Tribune Herald's website. But in the end, the Trojans did indeed slay the dragons. Huzzah!
Meanwhile, Tuesday night at Galena Park North Shore HS, the 15th ranked Port Arthur Memorial team and the 10th ranked Fort Bend Marshall team played at 7:30 p.m., the victor to face the Trojans on March 3rd, in Houston. Fort Bend narrowly defeated Port Arthur with a score of 63-62.
On Friday, March 3rd, the Semi-Finals of the 2017 Boys Basketball Region III-5a games commence.
Game 1 (5pm) will be between Rudder and Manvel.
Game 2 (7pm) will be between Fort Bend and the Trojans of University. For those who can make the trip to Houston, let's cheer the Trojans straight to victory.
The games will be played in the spacious indoor Delmar Fieldhouse complex in Houston, Texas. It is worth the trip just to see the facility. An interactive Google Map is provided. Keep an early watch for traffic conditions and adjust your route accordingly.
Regions 1, 2 & 4 will also be battling for their Regional Championships this weekend all across the state. Saturday, March 4, at Western Texas College (2pm), the boys of Region I face off. Region II will be playing at Garland ISD (1pm) and the Region IV final will be at Northside ISD (3pm).
The Region Champions of Regions 1 & 3 and 2 & 4 will challenge each other on March 9th at the State Tournament, location still to be determined.
We hope as many fans as possible attend the game Friday night as the winner of games 1&2 will face off Saturday (March 4) at 1pm to claim the Region III 5A title, also in the Delmar facility. It's a big weekend for Region III High School boys basketball.
